USA-Finland World Cup of Hockey Third Period Wrap

Back to the third period with a stong USA lead over Finland. Finland put up a good fight against Team USA closing the gap to 3-2 as USA takes the win.

Pretty uneventful 10 minutes until USA Justin Abdelkader was called for slashing- Finlnd to the PP again. 

Finally Finland’s Patrik Laine got one on the boards.  3-1 USA

Finlnd wasn’t done yet scoring again with 4:33 left in the game- goal by Jussi Jokinen. 3-2 USA.

Caps Players Tagged for World Cup Teams

It is an honor for a hockey player to be selected to represent his country in the World Cup Hockey Games. The games will take place September 17 to October 1st at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The Team Logos and uniforms were revealed on 2 March, as were the team rosters.

Here is how the Capitals came out:

Team USA: John Carlson, TJ Oshie

Team Canada: Braden Holtby

Team Russia: Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov,and Dmitry Orlov. (and former Cap goalie Semyon Varlamov)

Team Sweden:  Nicklas Backstrom

And because we know you care…

Czech Republic: While no current Capitals player is on the team, former goalie Michal Neuvirth has been named one of the goalies.

According to the Washington Post: ” two World Cup of Hockey exhibitions in September, one between the United States and Finland on Sept. 13 and another between Team Europe and Sweden on Sept. 14, the Capitals announced on Wednesday. Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington will also host practices for all four teams.”
