Capitals Captain Alexander Ovechkin has reached one milestone after another in his hockey career and this past season. The pinnacle of that 13-year career in the NHL occurred June 7, 2018 when he lead the Caps to win the NHL championship for the first time. And he has done much of this with the assistance of key partners like Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and TJ Oshie. But one partner has made it all worth while!
On 08/18/18 Ovi and his wife Natsya welcomed their first child, Sergei Aleksandrovich, into the world. And with that Alex has reached one of the greatest milestones in life. His son is named in honor of his brother who, when Alex was just ten, lost his life to a blood clot. The birth comes not only on the perfect date for the GR8, it occurred two days after the anniversary of the death of Nastya’s mother to cancer. Now both memories will be softened with their love for their new son. Alex’s parents remain in Russia as it is believed that his father is not able to travel due to health issues.
We were first to report the news after good friend Vitaly Fridzon let the secret slip on his Instagram account.

The happy couple has only shared one photo so far. We have no doubt that Natsya and Alex, who love social media, will soon share more revealing photos. The two returned to the United States July 22 and have been vacationing in Miami, Florida while awaiting the birth of their child. Nastya’s sister and other close friends joined them in the past week, signaling the imminent birth.
As we reported in an earlier story: Alex and Nastya became engaged in September 2015, after many years of acquaintance. They kept their romance private for some time. They were married in a quiet civil ceremony August 28, 2016. They celebrated in a BIG way a year later in Moscow. Theirs is a love story that has captured our hearts.
Congratulations have been pouring in all day, from media, fans, friends, and hockey mates! Nearly 5,000 well wishes on Ovi’s IG account and another nearly 4,000 on Nastya’s at time of press. Even the governor of Moscow congratulated the happy family.
