Vrana Fights and Shocks Us All

By Chris Cleveland

Wednesday night’s game was one to remember for many reasons. It was like the game of the year for me, even though we lost. Capital One Arena was lit all night starting with people waiting to get in from outside the arena.

Then I felt like the place amplified when the puck dropped. It was like a playoffs game for sure and the loudest game I have been to since Game 4 of the Cup Finals last season. And it was a chippy one for sure.

Tom Wilson was involved in just about every scrum possible when he was on the ice. We loved seeing guys like Alex Ovechkin and a few others who did not take any crap from Tampa.

It all broke loose in the second period though right in front of the Caps bench. Michal Kempny went down and it got wild after that. Jakub Vrana was on the outside of the scrum but he was really going at it with someone. Something snapped and it was like he said: ‘We’e fighting.’

It was funny people listening to people at the game who at first thought it was Wilson fighting because the numbers 43 and 13 can look the same from a distance. Once people realized it was Vrana going at it though, the crowd really got into it. Things did didn’t fair well for Vrana after that; he spent five minutes in the box for fighting Yanni Gourde. It was really fun just to watch him throw a few punches. Can’t wait to see more fight from Jake!
