Carl Hagelin’s First Capitals Game

The Capitals acquired Carl Hagelin Thursday and he played his first game in a “red” jersey on Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres. We like what we saw for a first day with a new team.

Hagelin arrived with the team Friday and had a chance to practice before joining the fourth line Saturday. He was fast. He was everywhere. He was in the penalty box!

The 30-year old suited up in the number 62 sweater. Hagelin was on the ice for 12:33 minutes and had one shot on goal during that time. He only ended up in the box once; however, it was for a nasty tripping call against Sabre’s Jeff Skinner. Skinner left the ice with assistance and thankfully for the Sabres, he returned in the third period.

All-in-all we think Hagelin might just work out. We still have some reservations and are excited to see if he can return to the Stanley Cup champ-playing game he had in Pittsburgh with the Pens.

Sunday the Caps are back home and new D-man Nick Jensen joins for his first game with the team.
