As part of Black History in Hockey Night, the Capitals honored Hockey Hall of Famer and NHL pioneer, Willie O’Ree, and civil rights leader and U.S Representative, John Lewis. Before the NHL trade deadline expired the Capitals added two new seasoned players to the roster- one to the fourth line and one to defense. Carl Hagelin flew in from LA to lift up the bottom line while Nick Jensen made his way from Detroit to add some might to the penalty kill. One of the benefits of being a Capitals season ticket holder is the in-season skating sessions after select Capital games on the Capital One Arena ice. The first of this season’s skating sessions took place on Sunday following the Capitals somewhat stressful matinee victory over the Rangers and, as is generally the case, it was well attended and included a raffle of sticks, pucks, and a jersey autographed by Caps players and alumni. Now that the Capitals are back from their road trip, fans have a chance to catch them this week at practice and a home game Tuesday February 26 against the Senators, before they hit the road again.
