Caps Costume Contest: Which Players Did Halloween Right?

Happy Halloween Caps fans! How many of you are dressing as a Caps player for Halloween? Hockey players seem to go all out for Halloween with their costumes and as we’ve seen in years past, many Capitals players are exceptionally good at it! Here’s a look at what the team wore this year. Who do you think had the best costume?

Our first contestants are Andre Burakovsky, Christian Djoos and assistant head trainer Mike Harrington dressing as the gangsters from the popular Netflix series Peaky Blinders.

Oompa loompa doobity doo. I have another question for you. What do you get with two Aussies in Costume? Something better than a kangaroo! This one is the early favorite in my judgment. We’ve got our guy Nathan Walker and his wife Tayla as Oompa Loompas from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This halloween party is already a land of pure imagination. Okay I’ll stop now.

Dmitry Orlov was late for a very important date and his wife Vavara chased him into a rabbit hole. Not really. But yes Dmitry was the rabbit while Vavara was Alice from the movie classic Alice in Wonderland.

Now we’ve got a special four contestants throwing it back to the best decade of our lives. Brittney, Chris and myself were lucky enough to have childhoods in the 90’s and this special throwback got us in the feels. Brett Connolly sported a shirt that resembled the cups that we drank water and soda out of and had an old fashioned phone with a cord. His wife Katrina was wearing a popular fashion from the 90’s, a fanny pack, and had a disposable camera and even a Furbie! Those crazy talking birds that scared the crap out of some people.

The other two contestants in this pic are the lovely hockey couple of T.J. and Lauren Oshie. They wore clothes from the Guest clothing line, a popular brand at the time. Lauren had an interesting camera of her own while T.J. made me want to go to my attack and grab my Pokemon cards. Hey T.J. which Pokemon cards do you have? Want to make a trade? Ahhh I miss the 90’s.

Chandler Stephenson ain’t a mean one but he was Mr. Grinch while his wife Tasha wore a Cindy Lou Hoo costume from the classic Dr. Seuss book and movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, will the Caps players be able to outdo last year’s performance? We can’t wait to find out!

Next up are Dmitrij Jaskin, Jakub Vrana, and Michal Kempny who traded their Capitals jerseys for Average Joes uniforms from the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

You’re killing me smalls! Tom Wilson and his girlfriend Taylor Pischke dressed as Michael ‘Squints’ Palledorous while Taylor was lifeguard Wendy Peffercorn from The Sandlot.

And last but simply not least we’ve got your captain Alex Ovechkin and his wife Nastasiya as firefighters.

Alright Caps fans it’s up to you. Who wins the costume contest? Let us know in the comments or on social media.

In my book, the winners are T.J. and Lauren Oshie and Brett and Katrina Connolly for their 90’s themed costumes. Thanks for the nostalgia!

Happy Halloween Caps fans!
