Capitals Continue Grind Towards New Season

michael banner 2The Washington Capitals continued their training camp over the weekend before a packed house at newly-named MedStar Capitals Iceplex. FiCP was back on Sunday to get a further glimpse of the defending Stanley Cup champions and to get a hockey fix before the first preseason game in Boston.

Who was here?

Group Red and Group Blue, with a few new faces and fill-ins that couldn’t go to Boston, were hard at work on the Arlington and Capitals rinks. They did some 2-on-1’s, puck chasing, breakaways, and even five-on-five scrimmages. Fans got to see the top line of Alex Ovechkin-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Tom Wilson as well as Braden Holtby and T.J. Oshie.

With the Capitals in Boston, a select few players weren’t in attendance at MCI. Notable was Jakub Vrana, Brett Connolly, Andre Burakovsky, Chandler Stephenson, Madison Bowey, Christian Djoos, Shane Gersich, Brian Pinho and Nathan Walker. Top draft pick in 2018 Alexander Alexeyev, 2016 third-round pick Garrett Pilon as well as Hershey Bears standouts Jonas Siegenthaler, Aaron Ness, Tyler Lewington along with the goaltending random of Phoenix Copley and Vitek Vanecek will be playing this afternoon at TD Garden.
