What’s Next for the Capitals?

All summer we have watched, often with dusty eyes, as the Capitals each had their day with the Stanley Cup. The summer break is winding down and we are seeing players trickle back into MedStar Capitals IcePlex (MCI skate) to get their skating legs back.

Just around the corner is Capitals Training Camp. We are hearing that the first day of on-ice time for the Capitals and key prospects is 14 September. Training camp traditionally includes training and testing and building the team spirit. It is a time for the fan base to get in the grove too by watching the open practices. We’ll post the schedule as soon as we have it for you.

Meanwhile, more players are expected to arrive this weekend and most should be on the ice for pre-conditioning training with Mark Nemish. Wednesday is the target date for everyone to be at MCI skate.

The first preseason game is set for 16 September in Boston and the first home preseason game is 18 September at Capital One Arena this time with the Bruins visiting Washington DC.

The home opener is 3 October, against…you got it: the Boston Bruins. The Capitals will raise the banners for Metropolitan Division champs and Stanley Cup Champions!! The Stanley Cup will be in the house and we should see at least Alex Ovechkin lift it one more time.

As we settle into the season, the Capitals players and select team celebrities will attend Casino Night at MGM Grand National Harbor. VIP tickets are $500 this year and $200 for regular admittance. Click here for the link to purchase tickets on Tuesday 4 September.

Season Ticket Holders will head to Six Flags America for the annual member party. It’s a great chance to hang out with other fans and meet the Capitals. The past two years the Caps hosted STHs for a Night at the Museum and at Capital One Arena; however, their favorites are Six Flags or the National Zoo. We’ll be covering the night for those unable to attend!

And then it is one game after another as the team goes to win back-to-back championships.

Be sure you follow us on social media for all updates as we go where the Caps go!
