In a press release today, the Washington Capitals announced that will have a team participating in a three-team rookie tournament with top prospects from the Nashville Predators and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The tourney will be held at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla., from 8 to 11 September. The 2017 tournament was canceled due to the threat of Hurricane Irma.
Germain Arena is home to the ECHL Florida Everglades. Estero is about a two-hour drive south of Tampa and about 30 minutes from Fort Myers
Over the four days, Capitals prospects will face the Lightning prospects once and the Predators prospects twice during the round-robin tournament.
The Capitals’ tournament roster has not yet been released. The Hershey Bears will primarily make up the list of players, even if some of them may play in the NHL this season.
The games will be free and open to the public. The complete schedule is listed below:
