Where in the World is Stanley?

We don’t know every where Lord Stanley is going or when he will show up with which Capital player or staff. We have some info.

This is what we know so far. Caps are keeping in all quite at the request of some players. And some details are still being worked out. Still missing details are Barry Trotz (unless his day was at home in Virginia), Tom Wilson, Braden Holtby, Brooks Orpik, and Jay Beagle.

July 13 Alex Chiasson is next up for a visit in Montréal. No details on his day.

July 22 Matt Niskanen will bring Lord Stanley to Virginia, Minnesota where he played hockey as a kid. They even named the day for him at Mt. Iron. They can’t wait to see their hometown star!

July 23 the Cup will be on display in Bird Island, Minnesota at the Broaster Restaurant. Homeboy Jason Serbus, Head trainer to the Caps, will share his time from 1-3. Those wanting to have their photo with the Cup will be asked to make a donation to the Tim Orth Memorial Foundation which benefits children facing financial medical needs.

July 24 TJ Oshie and Shane Gerish will be together in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Oshie has been a part of the community for years and both guys also played for UND.Shane just packed up his stuff to make a more permanent move to DC or Pennsylvania this fall.

July 26 Todd Reirden is bringing the Cup home to Deerfield, Illinois. He gets to do that as the new head coach!

August 6 Devante Smith- Pelly will meet up with his Lordship in Ontario. No details.

August 8 Lars Eller is the first player from Denmark to get his name on the Cup.

August 9 Andre Burakovsky returns home to Malmo, Sweden with the big guy. He got his hockey start here and is excited to bring Stanley to meet everyone. Details are still in the works but we know it will be fun! Can we expect Jakub Vrana??

August 11 Christian Djoos will be in Gavle, Sweden the day before Backstrom, for a hometown celebration.

August 12 Nick Backstrom will visit the ice arena named for him after he became its primary donor. He visits Valbo, Sweden and NicBack Arena at 1130. We expect a big celebration for Nicky!!

August 13 Philipp Grubauer will be in Rosenheim, Germany to greet fans at the youth club where he once played. There is rumor that he will also be at Das Rathaus-city square- for a celebration of his success.

August 15 Evgeny Kuznetsov is expected to bring the Cup to his childhood home in Chelyabinsk, Russia. We imagine he will spend some personal time with his parents at his older brother’s gravesite. No confirmation on details. He played for Traktor and is likely to also visit their arena

August 17 is believed to be Dmitry Orlov‘s day in Novokuznetsk, Russia. He will be the first player to bring it there. He played for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in his early hockey years so we anticipate a visit to Kuznetsk Metallurgists Sports Palace. What we want to know is: will there be more dancing??

August 20 Brett Connolly will spend some time with the The Prince George Cougars Hockey Club where he once skated himself. He has said he wants to have as many people as possible get a chance to see the Cup. There will be a public rally at CN Centre at 12. This club has turned out a lot of winning NHL players and coaches!

August 24 Chandler Stephenson will be making some special memories when he visits the Humboldt Broncos. Saskatchewan is home to Chandler and he still considers himself a part of the Broncos family. No details yet.

Braden Holtby told Mike Vogel he plans to bring the Cup home to Lashburn, Saskatchewan. He said he wants to share his success with family, friends, and the people who helped him along the way. Expect a visit to CN Sportsplex.
