The Capitals are still celebrating the Stanley Cup. The NHL has a packed schedule the next few weeks. Caps fans have no time to rest as the planning for back-to-back wins is in full gear!
Here are important dates to track leading up to the start of free agency starting on 1 July.
Buyouts are open now. The complete list and rules governing a buyout can be found at capfriendly.com.
Teams are slowing leaking their schedules for pre-season as well as date for their development camps.
June 20 Club home openers announced at 1pm Plan for a big day of celebrating in DC again!! A date with a Banner!!!
NHL Awards air on NBCSN at 8 pm
June 21 Regular Season games announced at 5 pm on NHL. The start of #backtoback
June 22-23 is the NHL draft in Texas. The schedule and order for the draft can be found here. The Caps go toward the end of each round having traded away their picks.
June 24 at 12:01 am, Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA) can start talks with other teams. Caps have a lot of deals to make. Click here for the list.
June 25 at 5 pm, qualifying offers need to be made to Restricted Free Agents (RFA)
June 26 at noon, discussions can begin with RFAs that did not receive qualifying offers
June 30 at 5 pm first buyout period ends
