Saturday was ALL about CAPS Fans, Photos Celebrating the Caps

The Washington Capitals put the word out on Friday that there would be a grand sendoff for the boys at Capitals Kettler Ice Plex in Ballston, VA. We came to wish the Caps success as they headed into the desert to face the Vegas Golden Knights. In the end though, it was all about the fans who have waited a very very long time for this moment and were crazy with CAPS FEVER!!

Once inside – there was coffee and other snacks to be had. And of course, merchandise to purchase. In the early hours, it was easy to sneak in and out of the team store; however, as the day went on, the lines got longer and longer. So many things to buy!!!

Fans surrounded both rinks, filled in the bleachers, and  some cheered on the from the upper deck. It was great to see everyone making room for each other to see the Caps practicing.

We have to admit – our favorite part of the day was alllll the children. There were so many kids up on their parent’s shoulders watching a new era of Washington Capitals history unfold.

Following practice we all ran outside, or found a spot on the glass overlooking the parking lot – to wait for the Caps to depart. Unlike the Red Carpet at the opening of the season, the boys weren’t able to stop for autographs. But there were towels to be given out and lots of waves. Check out our other posts for player photos.

The Caps are safely in enemy territory tonight. Sunday they will practice at T-Mobile Arena as they prepare for this final run for the Cup! We can’t wait for the next time we gather as friends of the Caps for an even bigger celebration in Washington DC!

Shout out to Chris Cleveland and Brittney Marcum who weathered a recent shoulder surgery (Chris, aka Twitter King) and left with a bright red sunburn (Britt) to bring you some great photos. We have more to share, so give us a follow here on the blog and on Twitter or Facebook for all our updates!!
