Capitals Finish Up Regular Season Against NJ Devil With A Bang!

Oh What A Night!

Meeting for the final time in the regular season, the Capitals and Devils, gave a little preview into the playoffs. The Caps played a hard game which gave them an exciting win the the end of the season. Fans were ecstatic!!!

Lines for the night for the Capitals. TJ Oshie sat this one out.

No  Beagle, Pinho, Djoos and Boyd (sick)  tonight. But they were there for Jerseys Off Their Backs and were looking pretty slick!

And for the Devils:

Defending the nets tonight were Schneider and Holtby.

watermarked138(2018-04-07-2113)Much of the excitement around Capital One Arena was the anticipation of an Ovi Hat Trick and another 50-goal season. Unfortunately it didn’t happen, but we were on the edge of our seat down to the last second hoping he would score. He did get off two goals, ending the regular season with 50 goals and 38 assists.

The first period was all razzle-dazzle as Ovechkin got off his first goal, assisted by Kuznetsov and Wilson. Nico Hischier managed a goal, getting him to 20 for the season. No holding back though as Nick Backstrom scored his 21st goal, with help from Connolly and Carlson. (Can we please keep Carly next year??) 2-1 Caps

The second period tilted the Caps way with a fancy slap shot from Michal Kempny, who was added to the Caps roster late in the season. Miles Wood, Devils leftwinger, would score his 19th goal, ending the period 3-2 Washington and no Ovi goal.

Finally in the third period the Caps decided to put an end to the Devils thoughts of winning. Patrick Maroon scored for NJ, closing the gap to 3-3. Ovechkin struck, landing a second goal on Schneider and was followed by Andre Burakovsky (Kempey, Backstrom A) at the 1150 mark. Ovi would fail to score again despite the crowd changes of “WE WANT 50.” The Caps closed out the season with a 5-3 WIN!!

And now we know that the Caps will meet the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round. Are you ready???  We can’t wait!!
