Game time 7:30 pm EST on NBCSN
The Caps are on the road again with three games out of town, playing three original teams: Red Wings, Canadiens, and Rangers. A Caps win will mean an end for Detroit making it to the playoffs for a second season. So a bit of an update for the Washington Capitals as they prepare to play against the Detroit Red Wings:
- Braden Holtby is out with a lower body injury likely from the March 20 Stars game.
- Phillip Grubauer is in the net and Pheonix Copley is up from Hershey just in case.
- Evgeny Kuztnesov will miss his third game because of his upper body issue. He skated some at practice and Coach Trotz indicated that he is “close” to returning.
- And, rookie Tobias Geisser signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Caps set to start in the 2018 season.
As of now this is how things look for tonight’s game:
Ovechkin Backstrom Wilson
Burakovsky Eller Oshie
Connolly Boyd Vrana
Stephenson Beagle DSP
Kempny Carlson
Orlov. Niskanen
Orpik Djoos
Grubauer
On our radar:
John Carlson plays in his 600th career NHL game tonight and is having his best season ever!
Christian Djoos- he held his own against the Stars. Can he make the difference for Orpik?
Ovi is six away from 50 Goals. Can he close the gap the closer we get to the end of the season?
Orlov needs one more point to make it 30.
Backstrom is one goal away from 20, two from 40 Assists, and three from 60 points!
Vrana has a point or more in three of his last five games- he had no points in the last game against Dallas
Can the Caps win this one and then a second for a two- or three-in-a-row away series?
We are ready to see the Caps lock up first place and lock in for a full run in the playoffs!
