Washington Capitals Head Coach Barry Trotz and Captain Alex Ovechkin have both been selected to lead the Metropolitan Division Team at the 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend in Tampa, Florida.
This is Trotz’s second All-Star appearance as the Caps’ bench boss, third all time (Nashville). He is now among the top five coaches with NHL wins all time, an amazing milestone. He is the perfect selection to lead the division. Many believe his time in D.C. is coming to an end, but with what he has done with this team and for himself, it may be just the beginning.
Amongst all of the crazy hockey fans world wide, we have successfully voted our Ovi to captain the Metropolitan Division Team once again. This is his 9th time he has been selected to go to the All-Star weekend, holding the the all time leading spot in Caps’ appearances. He has six goals and six assists in these events. With his goal production on the regular season coming as it is, which he is tied for first with Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning at 27, it doesn’t surprise me that he has been selected. Alex has put in work, day-in and day-out, for himself and the Capitals organization.
The 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Games start at 3:30pm ET/12:30pm PT on the 28th of January. Make sure to tune in on NBCSN and support our Coach & Captain. Go Caps and go Team Metro!
