It was a good day at Kettler today. Chandler Stephenson and Andre Burakovsky were back to skating with the team after each suffered varying degrees of injury. Not on the ice was TJ Oshie who was butt-kicked into the boards Monday night. Stephenson has been out for one game with an “upper body injury” and has been cleared to play on Wednesday, if needed. And, Madison Bowey was looking fine despite a nasty slash to the hand on Monday.
Burky skated today, although it seemed to be a light skate and he weaved in and out of lines. Coach Trotz said later that he is “very close…another practice or two” before he rejoins the team.
Have to wait and see how Oshie is before making decisions about who plays when. TJ is day-to-day and not likely to be in the lineup against the Blackhawks.
Lines at practice, though not a sure thing for Wednesday, were as follows:
Ovechkin Backstrom Wilson
Vrana Kuznetsov Chaisson (Burky will likely slot here when he returns)
Boyd Eller Connolly
Graovac Beagle Smith-Pelly
Defense stays the same:
That’s a fourth line change and Boyd is still in just in case Stephenson is not, although Stephenson was skating in and out with the fourth line.
Everyone was in a pretty good mood. Kuzy was all smiles and giggles.
Willy seemed a little gleeful too after his takedown of Thorton Monday!
And Holtby is ready too!
Finally, in late breaking news, Russia has been banned from the 2018 Olympic games which means these three will not be going anywhere…not that they could.
