Capitals Grueling Practice; Photos & Video

The Washington Capitals leave Tuesday for Vancouver, but before they packed up they held practice at Kettler ice Plex. And the coaches put them through the paces. They went over an hour and then many stayed to work on specific skills.

The line for today’s skate:

Andre Burakovsky was placed on injured reserve and Chandler Stephenson was called up from Hershey as the emergency player. Taylor Graovac remains out as does Matt Niskanen.

The goalies had some time of their own before the official practice began.

We concentrated a good bit on the defensemen. They all had some one-on-one time with Coach Todd Reirden – especially John Carlson. Following the team stretch, the defensemen worked on their own shooting drills.

And per request, we did our best to get some shot and video of Devante Smith-Pelly

And Madison Bowey.

And as we have said – much of what happens in the next few days is up the the coaches getting the team into shape. They worked hard today.

Here are some other candid shots. At one point all the players were checking out a posting behind the bench. Not sure what it was but they were allll talking about it.

We laughed a bit at Tom Wilson’s helmet head!
Something was posted behind the bench. We don’t know what it was, but the players sure were interested:

Capitals will practice Wednesday in Vancouver and hold morning skate Thursday at Rogers Arena. The next practice at home is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31. After all, there is the annual Ovechkin Halloween party they need to be back home to attend!!
