Kuzy Quietly Leading Caps in Points

With all the hoopla about Alex Ovechkin and his amazing two nights of hat tricks, the outstanding performance of Evgeny Kuznetsov has gotten a bit lost. He was instrumental in assisting Ovi on all seven of his goals and on the TJ Oshie goal on Monday night.

  • Six were even strength goals and two were on the power play.
  • He is averaging 18.23 minutes on the ice; 10 seconds less then Nick Backstrom and 22 seconds more then Ovechkin.
  • He is creating more scoring opportunities than anyone, other then Ovi, on the offense.

And we think he must be on the cusp of some breakout goal scoring of his own! Clearly the Ovechkin – Kuznetsov – Vrana line has some magic happening.  Vrana already has six SOG in three games while Kuzy only has two SOG. So it’s a race to see which player will score first.

Any way you look at it, Kuznetsov is earning every cent of his eight-year $62.4 million contract. We can’t wait to see him break loose and score the Caps some goals!!
