The Blue Jackets just can’t let it go…they have to keep beating the Caps. It was a close game Sunday afternoon; however, in the end Columbus overtook Washington, winning by one goal in the third period. With TJ Oshie and Lars Eller out, Paul Carey had a chance to step up from the Hershey Bears for his first NHL game of the season.
Nicklas Backstrom was first with a puck in the net in the first period.
Nick Foligno returned the favor almost midway into the second and was answered almost immediately by Alex Ovechkin.
Brad Dubinsky scored almost as soon as the third period began and Alexander Wennberg zipped it up for the Jackets at the 19.06 mark of the third.
Here are some shots of the Washington Capitals during warmups and in action during the game.
A good bit of the credit for the win goes to the Jacket’s Russian goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky.
There may have been a bit of confusion for folks listening to the game on the radio: was it William Karlsson (Jackets) or John Carlson (Caps) they were talking about?
Here’s a look at some of the Jacket’s players in action:
The Caps fought hard, overcoming the loss of two of its players and perhaps even Andre Burakovsky still smarting from his injury on Friday. Next game is Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues at home.
