Celebrating Holtby!

Tuesday night the Washington Capitals will celebrate the outstanding year Braden Holtby had in the 2015/16 season. Holtby was awarded the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goalie over the summer. The Caps will honor his success in a pre-game ceremony and a fan banner giveaway.

We give you some classic Holby photos, posing with fans, stretches, in the zone, celebrating a win, and oh that water bottle…

Holtby had an incredible winning season of 48 wins in a season, which tied Martin Brodeur’s record. He ended the season with an impressive 48-9-7 record which included three shutouts and 22 straight regulation wins (22-0-2).

We have followed Braden since his days with the Hershey Bears – waiting for his chance to claim the number one spot as the Caps starting goalie. At 27, he still has a few good years to outperform other net minders and make a lasting mark on the NHL.  He signed a 5 year / $30,500,000 contract with the Caps in 2015 and will be with the organization at least until the end of the 2020 season when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

We can’t wait to see what he brings in the 2016/17 season, as he continues to improve his craft. Hopefully it is big and shiny!
