Marcus Johansson turns 26 today!!! The Swede from Landskorna signed a new three-year contract with the Washington Capitals in July 2016. Unfortunately his birthday celebration is somewhat overshadowed by an injury he sustained October 2nd in a preseason game against the Islanders. CBS Sports reports that the left-winger should be good to go come opening night. The 2015/16 season was a actually a pretty good one for Marcus, minus the games he missed because of a nagging injury. Oh and then there was that nasty business about a suspension of which we will no longer speak! He ended the season with a respectable 46 points (17 G, 29 A) in 74 games, according to Hockey Reference.
Marcus and his partner Amelia have a beautiful daughter Mila, who absolutely has her daddy wrapped around his finger. And we at FiCP are especially fond of his mom and dad, who put in a regular appearances in Washington several times a year—although we think they may secretly be coming to see Mila not MoJo.
Happy Birthday to the middle Swede and wishes for a speedy recovery and return to the ice.
