The St.Louis Blues are in Washington for the Caps seventh preseason game–three more to go to regular season. This is just one more game to test the talents of prospective players to add to the roster and one more night for the regular guys to get in shape for an October 13 opener in Pittsburgh.
The Caps will be missing Marcus Johansson, Tom Wilson, and Madison Bowey who management is holding out to recover from some injuries picked up in previous preseason matches.
Braden Holtby is in the net. He didn’t get any playtime during the World Cup of Hockey so it will be good to see how he is doing.
First line looks like: Ovechkin, Backstrom, Oshie
Second line: Sanford, Eller, Burakovsky
Third Line: Winnik, Beagle, Connolly
Fourth Line: Walker, Sill, Carey
Defense parings:
Alzner and Niskanen
Orlov and Carlson
Schmidt and Chorney
