Pregame Coyotes Visit Capitals

Washington Capitals: 43-10-4

Arizona Coyotes 27-25-6

After a hot and cold game on Saturday, the Washington Capitals are back on the ice at Verizon Center to face one of the lowest ranking teams in the league, the Coyotes. Washington is the first stop for the Glendale team on a five-game road trip. The Caps have won their last three games and eight out of their last 10.

The Coyotes have had an up and down season. They fell to St. Louis  in a 6-4 loss with goals scored by Shane Doan, Kevin Connauton (his 3rd), and two by Max Doomi. They are an unpredictable team for the Caps to face.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson leads the team in points, with seven in his last five games. He suffered an injury in Saturday’s game and it is not clear if he will be in on Monday.

Shane Doan leads with goals (22) with three goals and an assist in his last five games.

On the Caps side of the ice, the Coyotes will be facing an unpredictable team in which any player could fire off the scoring shot. In the last game nearly every player had a shot on goal and every player is there to support the other.

Evgeny Kuznetsov leads the Caps in points (60) and assists (43).

Alex Ovechkin leads in goals (38) and continues to inspire the team to excel.

Kuzy, Ovi, Brooks Orpik, Dmitry Orlov, and TJ Oshie had a remarkable night against the NJ Devils on Saturday. The defensemen of the team have stepped up their game but they can still improve their protection in front of Braden Holtby.
